Homeschooling on the Days I Want to Quit

Confession: I don’t always love homeschooling.
There are days I fantasize about putting my kids on the big yellow bus and waving goodbye for 7 uninterrupted hours.

Sometimes those days come back-to-back.

When I feel like quitting, I remind myself of three things:

  1. My “why.” The reasons I chose this path in the first place — flexibility, connection, and teaching beyond textbooks.

  2. The reset button. A walk, a snack break, or switching to a hands-on activity can save the day.

  3. It’s okay to adjust. Not every day will be Instagram-worthy, and that’s normal.

On the hard days, I try to lower my expectations, lean on connection over curriculum, and remember that every season — even this one — is temporary.
